DEMOGO, in collaboration with CCHE Paysage, has been awarded first prize in the international architecture competition for the Maison des Entreprises and the redevelopment of its surrounding public spaces in Onex, Canton of Geneva, Switzerland.
Entitled Côté cour, Côté jardin, the winning proposal explores the relationship between architecture, landscape and public space, transforming the existing site into a new collective place for the neighbourhood.
The project introduces a new L-shaped building that establishes a dialogue with the existing structures, defining a semi-open courtyard and a sequence of interconnected public spaces. A generous portico acts as a threshold between two complementary environments: an urban frontage opening towards the city and a more intimate courtyard conceived as a shared space for everyday activities and community events.
The architectural intervention reinforces the identity of the existing complex through a measured relationship between built volumes, pedestrian routes and landscape. The modest scale of the new building and the proximity between entrances and outdoor spaces contribute to a welcoming environment, while the landscape design introduces new trees, permeable surfaces and shaded areas, encouraging biodiversity and new forms of collective use.
